There is Life on Mars
New Year’s Resolutions in November

Tonight I have decided to start a few different projects, the first of which and possibly the only one to come fruition was to start a blog.  I’m hoping that my life is engaging enough to sustain a blog and that people will want to read it.  Also that I will not procrastinate writing to my usual degree.  Maybe it was a bad omen that my Tesco shopping cost £6.66 today.

My first thoughts are about something everyone seems to be talking about which is highly annnoying but also inescapable.  Of course I’m talking about X-Factor which I haven’t been watching.  Not out of the desire to be the only one to claim they’re not watching it and therefore feel superior and more highbrow than everyone else but because I kind of find it very boring.  For a show that relys on the undefinable X-factor quality that makes someone a star they all seem to be very mundane personalities livened up by awesome songs that were written by genuine stars.

My main annoyance this week was hearing and later seeing a clip of Jedward singing Under Pressure complete with a Vanilla Ice rap.  Am I the only one who feels this was in pretty bad taste considering half of Queen were present in the studio?  Or at least thinking that Brian May either really really enjoys money or was sitting gritting his teeth through the twins covering the one hit wonder who stole Under Pressure’s melody and then claimed it was different due to a different progression of dees and das.

My other project I have decide to start with my housemates and an old friend from school is to start a night in Newcastle playing indie/classic rock/80s excitment.  My tastes do tend to run to Metal, Glam Rock, Industrial and so on but I feel it is an excuse to further promote David Bowie songs other than Changes on nights out and I do enjoy the occasional indie night.  Also I have been promised I can do facepainting on drunk people and design exciting posters.

I probably should have started off with an introduction in which I attept to sum up my personality while being suitably self-deprecating but not by too much.  (Did I just do that in only one sentance?)  Hopefully the next blog will have colourful pictures to look at.
